And the winner is……

OK Ok, I know this happened *ages* ago, but for good reason I need to mention this event!

On Saturday, March 31 Marcia and I (Kristy) had the pleasure of attending the PPOC Manitoba awards ceremony as a sponsors of the Best Commercial and Best Wedding Image.

The awards were held at Inn at the Forks in an intimate setting where we were able to mix and mingle with our industry colleagues and professional photographers. The food was great and the company even better! Alexandra Morrison, winner of the 2011 Photographic Artist of the Year, inspired us in a presentation of some of her amazing imagery. We were also treated to a live performance with local musician Luke Jacob. With guitar in hand he sang us some of his original music and the ever-beautiful Hallelujah.

I had the pleasure of presenting the Best Commercial award to Rodney Braun for his image titled Fairy Dust and Best Wedding to Joel Ross for his image titled Amore.

Gallery Opening

Rodney Braun, along with his wife Sonya owns Eve Studio’s. They specialize in fine art photography with a special focus on beauty and art nude photography. Rodney has published two books, Just as I am and H2Oohhh and has earned his Master of Photographic Arts.

Talent and accolades aside, he is also one of my favourite people and therefore I am excited to tell you about his upcoming show at Pixels 2.1 Gallery!

In Rodney’s words “Take a 10 kg bag of flour, some willing subjects, and an out-of-the-box photographer and you get some extraordinary images”.

Airborne opens this Thursday, April 5 from 7:30-9:00. There will be an artists talk at 7:30 on Friday April 13 that I would encourage anyone to attend.

Pixels 2.1 is located at 217 McDermot Ave. in the heart of the Exchange District.

See you there!
